The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAMOT) will be holding its annual meeting from Sept. 10 to 12 in the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Nashville.
The meeting focuses on holistic or biological dentistry, an emerging approach to dental health that promotes total wellness and incorporates a whole-body perspective on the mouth and teeth. It espouses toxin-free dental practices and procedures.
The IAMOT is one of the leading figures in science-based holistic dentistry. It is composed of a global network of dental health professionals, physicians and scientists who are dedicated to protecting public health and the environment.
The organization played a major role in exposing the perils of fluoridation and dental amalgam fillings that use mercury. This year’s conference will present recent findings on these practices and tackle emerging concepts in dental healthcare. It will commence on Thursday with courses on the fundamentals of holistic dentistry, followed by a two-day symposium on Friday and Saturday. Continuing medical education credits will be offered to attendees.
The registration fee for the symposium is 950 dollars for members, 1,050 for non-members and 550 dollars for additional attendees. Registration for the Thursday courses is separate and is priced at 350 dollars for the first attendee and 300 dollars for additional attendees.
The IAMOT’s annual meetings bring together 375 to 425 dental health professionals and physicians. Participants are given the opportunity to network with each other, discuss safe dental practices and advance dental health research.
Speakers for this year’s IAMOT annual meeting include luminaries in the field of holistic dentistry. For Thursday’s courses, speakers include Dr. William Virtue, Dr. David Kennedy and Dr. Phil Mollica. Dr. Virtue will present a how-to guide on running a safe holistic dental practice. His lecture will cover the basics of mercury, safe mercury amalgam removal and the equipment required in holistic dentistry.
Dr. Kennedy, a world leader in the anti-fluoride movement, will give a presentation on fluoride science and introduce alternative methods of mitigating tooth decay and maintaining good oral health.
Dr. Mollica, a professor at the American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry, will discuss foundational concepts related to the integration of holistic therapies into a new paradigm of dentistry. He will discuss ozone therapy, an alternative medical treatment that uses ozone gas to fight diseases such as viral infections, heart disease and cancer. Dr. Mollica will also offer alternative healing models and demonstrate how they benefit patient outcomes.
For Friday and Saturday’s symposium, speakers include Dr. Mark Geier and David Geier, Christine Till and Judy Mikovits.
The Geiers are co-directors of the non-profit organization Institute of Chronic Illnesses, Inc. Dr. Geier worked as a research scientist for 10 years at the National Institutes of Health. The two will present recent research on dental amalgam fillings and provide insights into the design and composition of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. NHANES is a program of studies that examine the health and nutritional status of Americans. It serves as a valuable data resource for health researchers in the United States.
Meanwhile, Till will deliver a presentation on fluoride neurotoxicity via teleconference. Till, a professor of psychology at York University in Canada, is one of the pre-eminent figures in the study of fluoride exposure and its effects on childhood neurodevelopment. Her team is currently investigating the potential role of environmental chemicals in the development of emerging morbidities such as ADHD and thyroid disruption.
Mikovits will present insights into the link between vaccination and chronic diseases. Mikovits is the founder of MARC Inc., a medical consulting company that specializes in the prevention and treatment of autoimmune diseases caused by a viral infection, drugs and environmental toxins.
